It’s an interesting take on the story of an underground bunker, about people who survived underground for so long that a civilization arose within them, with lore, myths, beliefs, rituals, and ceremonies rooted in events that have been forgotten and the status quo social structure established. A power structure is formed, creating a stratified population, both figuratively and literally, from the top to the bottom of the silo.

Good acting from Oyelowo, with familiar faces in Rashida Jones and Will Patton

That’s the premise, and while it’s not entirely original (think Snowpiercer, Dark City, etc.), there’s enough novelty here and it feels well-executed for a TV series. (But as you can tell from the series poster, they’re guest stars who will make way for a regular cast, with Rebecca Ferguson in the lead role.) The series feels pretty decent, with good production values.

There are elaborate sets and good CGI to provide a believable atmosphere

While a skeptical mind will pick up on some obvious conspiracies early on, mysteries are revealed that will keep me engaged.

As "The Agency" (2024 release from the UK; 10 episodes ranging from 50 to 60 min) opens, we are introduced to Martian, a CIA operative who is abruptly called back to London after 6 years in Africa. We then go to Belarus, where a man, clearly drunk, gets in his car and after being chased by Belarus police, he crashes but survives. At this point we are 10 minutes into Episode 1.Couple of comments: this mini-series is based on the highly acclaimed earlier French TV series "Le Bureau des Legendes".

This mini-series benefits quite a bit from the excellent lead performance by Michael Fassbender (as Martian)

It is the latest from the Academy Award winning British director Joe Wright ("Darkest Hou"). As Episode 1 unfolded, there is a LOT going on (at least 3 parallel story lines), and it took me a while to see and understand the bigger picture. By the time we are in Episode 2, I was fully invested in this, as there is tension and drama everywhere.

Can't wait for it!

At the end of Episode 2, I was (and am) ready for more.The initial 2 episodes started streaming in SHO a few days ago. The remaining 8 episodes will be released weekly on Sunday evenings. If you are in the mood for a top notch CIA spy thriller or simply are a fan of Michael Fassbender, I'd readily suggest you check this out, and draw your own conclusion.
